A construction project of new collective buildings in Bucharest investigated the use of renewable energy systems for year-round heating and cooling. Shallow geothermal energy is an environmentally friendly and local solution providing inexhaustible energy, 24/7 and irrespective of the weather.
For this project, GEOEG collaborated with GreenTAGS to provide an opportunity study dedicated to the quantification of the geothermal potential of this project, for which a thermal activation of the supporting diaphragm walls was envisioned. To bolster this study, an economic analysis was also performed to investigate the cost effectiveness of the energy geostructure system.
